Replace Windows 8

Using Acronis True Image Home 2012 Plus Pack, I have backed up both disk drives completely in a single backup file. I also created a bootable disk. All using Windows 7.
I now want to move to a different machine with different hardware. It currently has Windows 8 installed.
My plan it to completely erase the new disk, wiping out Win 8.
Then using the bootable Acronis disk and the disks backup file, install Windows 7 and my programs from Disk0, which has 3 partitions onto the now wiped disk in the new machine.
Is this a reasonable expectation?
Will it probably succeed. What are the pitfalls?
