Resolved: How to migrate from one hardware to another, keeping systems, apps and register ??
Hi,
Acronis newbie here. I have old dell D620 laptop and new toshiba laptop. I bought Acronis 2013 plus pack. How to migrate, including all system, applications and registration? Steps please.
I will mount toshiba hard drive to my old dell via usb. Then what? When I put the hard drive back into my toshiba laptop, then what? what program?
I will also have my new toshiba drivers handy. Where should I put those drivers? Will it ask me for location of these drivers?
thanks

thanks. You are very helpful. :-) I'm doing the recovering now on my new toshiba i5...probably take ~5 hours. More questions:
1. Will my new toshiba be EXACTLY as my old dell, with my hard drive ID, passwords, license, owners permissions...etc worked as before, without me re-entering all those info?
2. During recovery, acronis rated my disk backups as 3 out of 5 stars. What does that mean? Does it impact my recovery? How do I improve my rating?

Yes. If you have being careful of backing up the entire disk. Many users back up only the C:\partition on the system disk, and many systems have hidden partitions on that same disk.

ATI doesn't rate your backup. You do. The 3 starts is a default rating. I don't find the rating useful at all.

update: Got my target up and running. Most software don't need to re-key. Some do, such as Windows, Office, iTunes. I'm sure I'll find out more as days progress. Lost my keys to Windows Media movies...bah!! hump!!! :( Same lost and more using Microsoft's sysprep (free) earlier.
TrueImage Plus Pack preserved listing of all previously opened docs, itunes libraries, user/folder privilages.... :-) Overall VERY HAPPY with product...worth every cents.
Another thing worth mentioning is Double Drive freeware. I find it very useful. In the beginning, I used it to extract all drivers from my new target toshiba machine in digestible forms (decompressed format .INF, .SYS files). It's now time to actually use my machines, instead of moving data blocks around ... ha ha...
