[RESOLVED] Not enough privileges to start Sync Agent service. Restart your computer.

Thread needs solution

Two fully licensed versions of True Image 2013 installed: one on desktop with Windows XP, one on laptop with Windows Vista business. Cloud subscriber. Every time I try to login to Sync on laptop get error "Not enough privileges to start Sync Agent service. Restart your computer." Have restarted multiple times, used program as administrator, etc. What am I doing wrong? Very frustrated.

Issue resolved here.

Do you have a security suite installed on Vista? Some security suites will not allow a service to start unless granted permission by the security suite. Try and disable the security suite temporarily to see it the service can start while the security suite is disabled.

Also the Sync service may be trying to start using an account that does not have enough permissions to run it. Open service.msc, find the listing for the service, and check the logon properties. Post screen shots if you can if you can not get it resolved.

Have McAfee Antivirus Plus installed. Have turned off firewall. Have removed user account control. Says service.msc does not exist.

Sorry, typo...services.msc

ok got it. Nothing in logon properties although password field is starred out. Do I replace this with my email/pw for Acronis?

sorry should have been clearer. I see acronis nonstop, scheduler and sync agent. All set currently to logon as local system.

Can you post a screen shots of the Sync service tabs and settings?

In the services.msc screen, can you manually start the service, or does it fail with the same message?

Also, right click on the syncagentsrv.exe file in the folder shown in your image1.jpg screen capture, and check for permission issues on the file itself. It should be owned by "system" and "system" should have full control.

Windows cannot start the Acronis Sync Agent Service on local computer. Error 2: the system cannot find the file specified.

File syncagentsrv.exe is not in C:/programs/commonfiles/acronis/syncagent
only 2 files are there: removefilehelper.exe and syncagenetrss.dll

That would sure explain the problem. Open the installer file you used to install 2013 and run a repair install.

Thank you very, very much. That seems to have solved the problem. Now trying my first sync.
