Restore adding ~******* to all file extensions
I am starting a restore of 1.7TB to a reformatted drive and all my image files have a .dng~ with 8 characters or JPG~ when I look at the restored files on the reformatted drive.
Will the added characters go away after restore? If I drill into the folder on the BackUp drive the files do not have these extensions?
i do not want to wait hours to find out there is something wrong in my restore steps.
THX

Having same problem. Each restored file has ~ with varying number of characters after the extension. Looking for a batch file rename that will remove it but would love to avoid this in the future.

In a chat with support I was told that the ~ gibberish would go away on completion. I cancelled the restore after 4 hours and only 40GB of the 1.7TB drive because it was going to take DAYS to complete. The support person in the chat told me that was acceptable, REALLY??? I must be doing something wrong.
What I did do was go the my backup volume and opened the the latest backup (I use differential type) so the most recent folder structure is there and drilled into the folders level. I was able to copy all of the files from one drive to the other with the Right Click Drag then Copy in Explorer. I did this in steps. Since all the files were Images and stored by year I dragged one year at a time so as not to stall the process.
In the past i was looking for a file I had inadvertently renamed or changed and found that I could drill down into the backup folder to copy 1 file, infinitely easier than going through the restore process.
I am not sure what I am doing wrong however my Image library is back and Lightroom does not see anything wrong other than the 2 folders missing since last backup. An easy fix!
