Restore from backup due to a black screen after signing on

Thread needs solution

I just updated to Windows 10 and had an issue.

I tried to revert back to Windows 8.1 and it seemed to do it correctly.

However, immediately after I log into windows the screen goes completely black and all I see is a cursor.

I tried to do a restore from a restore point but I received a message stating that a program could not be loaded and the restore failed.

This happened with all of my restore points.

I tried to do a dskchk and it found a number of issues and possibly fixed them but I still get the black screen.

I am thinking of doing a refresh but the refresh will only keep certain programs.

I have a full restore of my system from 7/1/2015 and an incremental restore from 8/23/2015.

I have some questions.

1. What is the name of the Acronis program to run?

2. Do I first restore the full backup and then the incremental or just the incremental?
I am leaning to restoring both.

3. Is there anything else you can think of to help me get back into my system without restoring the backups?

4. one thing on the internet said to disable the Display Adaptor and reboot but I cannot get into the Device Manager. I tried devmgmt.msc but that didn't work.

Thanks for any help given.
