Restore Backup to Smaller Drive

Thread needs solution

I have a disk image created on ATI2010 of a disk that has died. All I have to restore to is a smaller disk. The image is of a Windows 7 install and the image itself is larger than the destination disk. Is there a way to restore the partition image but remove (or skip restoring) some of the large files in the image?

I have ATI2010 and ATI2011 (includes plus pack) boot disks. Any help is appreciated.

You can't. And even if you excluded these files during backup, you still could not do it (Size of source partition would have appeared as large as amount of used space with excluded files). So you have to borrow a large disk, recover onto it, erase files from this disk, backup again and then restore to the small disk.
