Restore e-mail from Outlook Express to Windows 7 Life Mail

Thread needs solution

I am using Acronis 2010.
I have a back up for the Outlook Express email of a XP platform.
Due to a processor failure I needed a new Intel processor and also a new motherbord (the Abit MoBo is an orphan).
This was a good time to install Windows 7 as I needed anyway to make a full installation.
The XP has not been reinstalled.
How can I get hold of the OE email and dump it on the W7 Live Mail system. Or is my situation hopeless ?

Roger:

There may be other ways to do this that you could find on the Windows Live forums, but here is a solution that will work. If your version of Windows 7 came with an installation of Virtual XP Mode, then start Windows XP mode and open Outlook Express. Export your mail database to a format that Windows Live Mail can import.

If you don't have Virtual XP Mode installed you could download and install Windows Virtual PC 2007. Install a basic Windows XP system on the virtual machine from a Windows XP install disk, import your OE mail database and then export it to a file that can be imported by Live Mail.

Or, if you have any other Windows XP machines available to you, use one of them to export your mail database.

Mark,

I found the old outlook mail in window.old folder created by the W7 installation. I succeeded to tranfer il to Live Mail.
