Restore from External Hard Drive

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I have a pressing problem, so I hope that by only spending a short time searching for answers on this forum and on Acronis's KB will be forgiven.

I have a Windows XP system that is unbootable. It started on Saturday. I was able to boot into Safe Mode. Today, I believe I was infected by the "System Security" malware via the Internet.

I cannot start the Recovery Console from the Windows XP system CD, nor will Norton Antivirus help with the problem.

I am just about to the point of installing two new hard drives and restorning my Acronis 9.0 image backup.

My question is this... I only installed Acronis TrueImage Home 9 last week, and I have not burned any CDs for restoring in the event of a complete system meltdown. I am reasonable certain the backup image is good (I verified it).

Can someone help me under stand what I need to do to restore the image after I install the two new hard drives (RAID0 configuration)? With other backup software, I know I have been able to download an .iso image and burn it to a CD.

Thanks for any help that can be offered.

Jeff

Well, you can download the TI 2009 Home "free trial" software.

Install it. (This will remove your older TI-9.)

Create a TI 2009 boot CD.

Boot that new 2009 CD and use it to restore your TI-9 backup, it probably will work but ???  I know that the 2009 CD worked fine with my old TI-10 backup files.

If your PC won't boot you will need to download and create the CD on a different PC.
