Restore stuck on approx 75%

Thread needs solution

I am trying to help my friend to recover his OS. Unfortunately I am not sure if he bought 12 version or prior version although I was there yesterday. He performed backup 1. full and 2 incremental backups. The raid he had was raid 5 , we inserted new hdds created raid 10 and started restore from acronis bootable cd. This morning he called me and said that it is on the same percentage as yesterday evening (about 75%) so he did reset of a pc and he wanted to start again but then a message appeared saying that he must validate backup. So now the questions.
- Is it possible that recovery stopped because of a raid change ?
- if validation now is bad , can we somehow salvage the data ??
- Did anyone experienced a problem like restore freezing ?
- Since backup is on USB anyone had a problem recovering from usb like usb sleep or something ?
since we are in the middle of a recovery any fast response would be really really appreciated.

If the backup tib file is corrupted, then the only way to get anything out of it is this -- see if the image will mount and then copy out data files -- this will work if the tib will mount and as long as none of the copied files is the bad spot in the tib.

I assume the restore is being done from the bootCD. If so, then there is no time-out, standby etc. that should be affecting the restore. More likely a bad spot on the source or target disk or a weak spot in memory. chkdsk /r on the disks will usually correct for the former prob. Running memtest overnight will reveal the second. FI the restore is not being done frm the bootCD, then try it from the bootCD.

Another alternative is to rastore in ati safe mode -- you might need to unassemble the array and reassemble it once the image is restored.

Hi Scott , thank you for your answer. I just wanted to add that verification of the backup was not finished. But the application just stopped. Nothing happens. Restore is performed from Acronis Boot CD. I must say this is really really annoying ! If anyone has an a Idea it would be great to hear. I doubt that checkdisk and memory test will solve the problem.

I successfully restored by dong one by one partition restore. So Acronis has a problem while restoring both at once ..... I really hope this will be patched !

Intersting result. Thanks for reporting back on the workaround that worked. It's in the archive now for others to find.
