Restored partition uses half the space of original
Thread needs solution
Cloning my HDD to my new SSD (both 1TB) failed because of a boot sector failure on HDD (used to dual boot WinXP and Win7 but changed just to Win7). Anyway, I backed up HDD partition, backup .tib size 343GB. Original HDD properties shows 545 GB used. Restored the backup file to new SSD. It's properties show only 217 GB used. Neither of the drives are compressed. I've done a rough comparison of folder and files and can't see anything missing. I used the default settings for the partition (disk) backup. Is there an explanation for the size disparity?
