Restoring backup of C: to new computer - any dangers?
I've done a full backup of my C drive.
1) Say I get a new PC and it's all ready to go - and I then download True Image Home 2011 on it, plug in my USB drive that has the C backup on it, and restore the backup to the new computer's C drive. Wondering if anything could go wrong here in terms of it transferring over undesirable files that the new computer won't be compatible with? Like it'd wreck the new computer in some way? Or is it totally safe?
2) The OS of the PC I backed up was Vista. If I restore this back up to a PC with say Windows 7 will it overwrite that and install a full working copy of Vista instead or something? If so, which folders do I have to omit when doing the backup to keep the new computer's operating system but just transfer over the documents and installed programs?

Pat, you said I can't restore an image to another computer without the Plus Pack. Will it work if all I'm recovering from the .tib file is documents like .txt files and .jpgs?

Yes. Files can be restored to the new machine. Just not the OS and the installed programs without the Pluspack.
