Restoring backup done with Acronis 11 using acronis 13

Thread needs solution

HI,
On 1/11/10 I purchased an online copy of Acronis True Image Home 2011 and used this to backup my computer. I no longer have ACTI 11 on my computer and I need to access the info on the external HDD. As I have changed Internet providers since the original purchase I can get nowhere with Acronis when I try to download the program again as they keep sending info to my old email address. If I buy the new Acronis True Home Image will that read the files and allow me to restore the ones I want? If I decide to buy, can I get the upgrade without having the old program on my computer?
I find the Acronis site very very aggravating, I have been trying to get somewhere for 2 hours and it is very frustrating to say the least.

Yes, ATI 2013 should allow you to restore backup images made with ATI 2011.

Gaye,

If you have your serial number for 2011, you could log into your Acronis account and attempt to register it online. If successful, you could then download the 2011 installer and/or the Rescue Media (bootable) ISO to create a new bootable 2011 CD/DVD to allow recovery.

In addition, you could create a new user account and then sign up for the 2013 trial, register the 2013 Trial serial number, download the 2013 Rescue Media ISO and create a 2013 Trial Rescue Media CD/DVD from the ISO and use it to perform the restore/recovery. You do not have to download and install the 2013 Trial to be able to create the Rescue Media from the 2013 ISO file. The 2013 Trial Rescue Media will not allow cloning or backups to be done from it, but it can be used to restore images from older version of the program.
