Restoring-I must be doing it wrong

Thread needs solution

I need help - I must be doing something wrong.

I have a folder that reads “Cannot delete 01- ART a-FineFotos. The folder is not empty.” However, when I look in the folder there is nothing there to delete. So, I thought I would just go back to my Full BackUp + one Incremental and restore everything shown ( “Macon Stuff” thru “Art”). In the backup I can see that the folder “01- ART a-FineFotos” is not there.

When I went through the Restore Wizard (Recovery > File Recovery) the Incremental backup was already highlighted. I then selected “Optional Steps” and under “Overwrite options” and “Do not overwrite” I took the check out of the box that reads “More recent files and folders”.

After the restore was done the folder “01- ART a-FineFotos” is still there.

I am using TI HOME 2010

Maybe I did not explain my problem very well. If there is anything more I can tell to explain things better I will certainly try to do so.

In the mean time, from what I explaned above, and the screen shot attachment, shouldn't I be able to restore the part shown in the screenshot and eliminate my problem?

This is either a hidden file in the directory or this is most likely a an ntfs problem--holding open a file handle or meta data for file that's been deleted or some such wonk.
To make surer it's not a hidden file, open a windows explorer window, select the tools, folder options, view and check the box circle for Show Hidden Files and Folders, then click okay. Navigate with explorer to the directory and see if anything is is in it. If so, delete it and then you should be able to delete the directory. If not, the then let's suppose it's a ntfs (file system) problem:

click on the windows start button, select programs, accessories, command prompt (right click this and select run as administrator), this should open a window with a prompt. At the prompt type "chkdsk c: /r" without the quotes --assuming your drive is drive C:. If your drive is different one, then use that drive letter in place of "C".

Let this run completely- it might take a few hours depending on how big your drive is and how fast your machine is.

this will force the disk tester to run all five tests and make repairs as necessary.

reboot afterwards and see if the problem persists.

Hello Scott,

I finally had a chance to follow your suggestions and the problem is solved.

THANKS A LOT
