Restoring installed apps to new OS
Hi all,
I have an old system protected with TI 2013 and I'm in the process of building a new PC. The problem is some of the apps installed on it are fairly ancient and I've lost at least one of the installers. They *are* working fine on the old box but I don't know how to re-install them on the new system. What's more, they're 16 bit apps that will need to go on a guest OS within a virtual machine under Oracle VM Virtual Box.
I've never tried restoring anything to a VM before and I have no clue how to do this, let alone try to get installed software to come up without the install floppies (yes, I said floppies). This was old, custom-written non-commercial software that I hadn't needed for at least a decade until now, and the developer has gone to the big bit bucket in the sky a few years back.
Any thoughts?

I am not using VMware. In fact, I don't have any VM boxen set up at the moment (this will be my first, hopefully), but I'm using the freeware Oracle VM Virtual Box virtualizer. Will this make any difference? I'm assuming it will. As I said, this is brand new uncharted territory for me, and wouldn't be necessary if I didn't need to access this ancient software.

This should work. I just googled it and found several links indicating you can use the free VMWare converter to create a virtual machine in Virtual Box

You can convert a tib image to VHD using True Image 2013 and then attach the resulting VHD to Virtual Box. However, you may get a blue screen as the VB network and video drivers won't be installed. The best thing to do would be to uninstall the network driver and return the video driver to a generic one.
Once booted Windows will be able to correct itself.
You may be able to run a Windows 7 install CD to make a repair of the W7 in VB (you have VB set to boot either the W7 ISO or physical CD at the virtual OS boot time), however, this make not work. Speaking as someone who has lost a W7 VB VM by seeing what happened if he installed an Acronis OEM version for Hitachi systems and now can't boot itno either the VM or the recovery environment.
