Restoring Multiple Images from Emergency Boot CD

Thread needs solution

This is my first post here, thank you for reading.

I recently became the tech contact where I work. I'm trying to restore one of our Windows NT 4 Workstation SP6 machines from a corrupted NTLDR. I boot to my Acronis 9 CD and select the Acronis True Image option. After loading for a while I'm into Acronis and select Restore Data. It asks for me to locate the backup archive which is on a CD. This computer only has one CD drive. The only logical thing I could think of was to take out the Acronis CD and put in the last created backup archive disk (4 of 4). I locate the backup file and press next through the dialogs until it's time to restore. All of a sudden it reboots and is back to the "Missing Kernel file" error due to the corrupted NTLDR.

So my questions are:

1. Why is it not restoring the image?

2. Am I doing it correctly?

Thank you.

You might be doing it correctly, or not. I think you are correct about removing the boot cd and then installing the storage disks.

My experience with TI is that every backup image I restore from a hard drive based backup works fine.

I have never been able to restore from a DVD disk image. I gave up on that. It asked for disk-1, then 2, then 1, then 2, ... forever.

Hopefully someone else can offer better help. Perhaps there is a simple fix for the corrupt NTLDR.
