Restoring from True Image 2013 non-stop backups skips files

Thread needs solution

I keep 3 hard drives in my desktop PC: a program drive, a data drive and a non-stop backup drive. Both the program drive and data drive have non-stop backup running, using the 3rd non-stop backup drive to store the backups.

I had a problem with the data drive that required me to restore files from the non-stop backup.

After selecting all files from the data drive I found that only about one half of those listed on the non-stop backup drive were actually restored. When I ran the restore on a file that had not restored True Image would appear to be restoring the file and then give me a message that the restore had been successful. However the file had not restored.

Further examination showed that the files that would not restore had been give .TMP extensions when they were backed up. A classic example is in my MS-Excel .xls files folder. When I explore that folder using True Image restore about one half of the files have their original .xls extension and the other half have been changed to a .tmp extension when they were backed up. It is the .tmp extension files that won't restore.

I also do a monthly clone of the program and data drives so between that and the non-stop files that did restore I'm about 98% recovered. I obviously have lost confidence in non-stop backup though.

Can someone give me some guidance on this problem?

Thanks,
BH
