Thread needs solution

Half-way through a 3 hour file backup to disks, the USB connection came out, and the job terminated.
Is there any way of resuming an interupted backup?

I am using Acronis TI home 2010, on a Vista Business system, backing up selected directories from D: drive (2nd partition on the 1TB internal hard-drive) to an external DVD optical drive burner. The backup is ~40GB.

No, there is not. In addition since the USB drive was having data written to it and was disconnected improperly, it would be a good idea to check the drive for errors using chkdsk X: /r (this checks and corrects issues, and also scans for bad sectors) with "X" being the USB drive letter.

I agree with James. You can't be too careful with your backup disk, as you need to know that it is reliable. Run chkdsk /r on that drive. Also run a drive checking utility from the drive manufacturer, as those sometimes catch errors missed by chkdsk.
