Routing between subnets - save Image in a different subnet

Thread needs solution

Hello,
we are using the Acronis True Image 11 Home CD to boot from and to save and restore Images.
Since our network changeover (split the network into subnets) we have the problem that we will not be able to save an image to a different subnet.
We can only see the computernames, we can't see the shares of the computer and can't save the image in this other subnet.
Should we have to share a specific port or a specific protocol on the router so that it works?
What protocols / ports are using by Acronis True Image 11 Home?
Please give me a short feedback
Thanks a lot.

Hello Melanie,

No worries, I will help you with this situation.

Since you're able to browse for computers under bootable media, this issue is not related to port settings. However, here's the answer regarding protocols used by Acronis True Image Home:

The SMB (Server Message Block) protocol is used among other things for file sharing in Windows, Standalone Version also uses the same protocol. In Windows 2000/XP/2003, Microsoft added the possibility to run SMB directly over TCP/IP, without the extra layer of NetBT. For this they use TCP port 445.

The possible causes are:

- Network setting may not be set correctly in your copy of the standalone version of Acronis True Image.

- The problem can relate to the network card of the machine or to the card driver shipped with Acronis True Image.

Please follow my recommendations below to resolve the issue:

Please make sure you are using the latest build of the product (8101), which is available here. To get access to updates you should first register Acronis software.

Please ensure that a DHCP server is running on your network. If you do not use a DHCP server, then please enable network connection, specify network settings manually in the window, available at Tools -> Options -> Network adapters.

If at least one computer is visible in Computers near me on the Image Archive Selection screen, then try specifying the full UNC path to the desired computer in the "File name" edit box, e.g. \\server\share.

If this does not help, please provide information about your network card model and vendor. Please also collect Acronis Linux Report.

I'd like to make sure all your queries regarding Acronis products are resolved.
Additionally to this, you are welcome to ask me any other questions concerning Acronis, and I will assist you further.

Thank you.
