Run List corrupted
Hello,
using Acronis True Image Home 11.
Made a backup on external USB drive of Vista partition incl. MBR.
Now I want to restore the partitition and get the error message:
Run List corrupted (in German: Run Liste beschädigt).
What is a 'Run List' ? Does that mean the target ? or the backup source is damaged ? Message is unclear to me.
How can I procede ?
Thanks

I am getting the same "run list corrupted" message.
My specifics: My motherboard recently died, and took the video card with it. After replacing both, the PC would POST and open the Windows splash screen, but then a blue screen flashed on and the PC rebooted (too fast to read the screen), and repeated the cycle until I hit the power switch. I had to reload Windows (XP Pro sp2), which was successful.
Now, rather than reinstalling and reconfiguring all my programs, which will take days, I want to use my most recent True Image 11 Home image. Trying to run it from the boot CD, and selecting the full backup image from a USB drive, I get:
"The selected partition contains the following error: run list corrupted. Please note that you cannot change the file system and size of this partition. It is recommended that you check these partitions after restoration with you’re operating system disk tools."
I am not offered the option of the boot drive as destination. Instead I get the source USB drive!
I ran CHKDSK c: /r as you suggested above. It ran, but it did not help.
So far I've spent several hours trying to restore my boot drive image, to no avail. What's next?
Thank you.

Michael, did you install all the newests updated drivers for your motherboard including the chipset driver?. Sounds like the problem may have been caused by you trying to install an image of the OS that included drivers for a completley different motherboard. That is if the image was from before you installed the new motherboard. Also why after spending the time to reinstall Windows without slipstreaming drivers or even SP3 would you decide to go back and install an older image that doesn't have the new drivers for the new motherboard and video card?.
If the difference in in Images is not the problem and it is actually a problem with your system files on your destination drive than I would suggest you delete the partition on the destination drive when it asks you if you want to delete existing partitions. I don't see how having a corrupt windows installation on the destination hard drive could be a problem if you delete the partition on the desitination drive. So what Alexander is saying to me is that the destination partition has a corrupt Windows installation. That doesn't make sense to me because if you are just deleting that partition anyway, what would it matter if its corrupt or not?. In fact, that in and of itself might be a reason for using Acronis to DELETE that partition and load a previous backup image you made of the hard drive. Now say if it was corrupt at the time you made the image, than the image itself is corrupt and can not be restored. In that case, what you should try doing is making a new image of the C: drive, then try restoring that, if you can get that to work than you know its not your C: drive that is corrupt, but the image itself....
Or it may just be what I originally thought. Your old image doesn't have the drivers for new hardware and that may be causing the problem.
Here are some other things you can try.
Does your OS still boot?. If so try start>run>SFC /PURGECACH
Wait for that to finish, it should open up a command prompt blank screen and take a few minutes than close.
After that do the same thing but type SFC/ SCANNOW
You may need the install media or WinXP Cd if it asks for it.
I might be crazy and sound a little OCD but I'm just trying to help. Also I have given you a lot more options than Acrnois support has given.
So let me know Michael what happens.

Kins
Thanks for your response. It is helpful folks like you that make the computer community so pleasant. And when company support fails, as it often does, and did in this case, you are often the last resort.
In the case of my problem, rather than wait forever for tech support, I bit the bullet and restored my PC tediously from scratc, which took a couple of days. I did NOT re-install True Image. Why bother? What good is a drive image if you can't restore it? I wish I hadn't bought 3 copies for my 3 PCs. I don't know if the other 2 installations would work, but I'm not inclined to find out. A big waste of money and time.
Again, thanks for your advise. I appreciate the effort and time that went into it. Maybe it will help someone else someday.

Hello
I had the same error at the very beginning of a partition restoration process launched from Acronis DVD (True Image Home 2010).
This restoration was applied to partition C: of the main hard disk of my Acer computer.
On this HD stood 3 partitions : C: for system (Vista) and software, and D: for data, + one Acer hidden partition called PQSERVICE.
Right after restoration failed, the original partition C: is now described as "unallocated" (no letter) and partition D: has changed name to C:
The only way for me to boot now seems to be from my Acer e-recovery custom made DVD which is going to re-install the original Acer factory Vista system. And I fear this installation is going to take place on the new C: partition, thus erasing all my datas.
Am I correct ? Or is there any other way to rescue this very unpleasant situation ?
Thanks in advance for your help
Marc

Hello Marc,
I understand the question and will do everything possible from my side to solve the issue.
In order to boot the system try to restore MBR using the following KB article.
The issue with “run list corrupted” may appear as the result of some defragmentation software. Try to disable it temporarily and see if the issue remains.
If the issue persists please download Acronis Report utility available at http://download.acronis.com/support/AcronisReport.exe and send it to us. Please compress the Acronis Report output file into an archive (e.g. with WinZip) and attach to your message by browsing for the archive. This would provide us with detailed information on the hard disk partition structure.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thank you.

Hi Guys
I have the same problem as described above. I religiously backed up my Vista partitions using True Image Home 10 on an external USB Drive, and now that my harddrive has gone bust, I'm screwed. I just get the error runlist is corrupted 0x7001C when I try to restore my primary 110GB partition. I have run chkdsk DRIVE: /r and all is fine.
What can I do? Please help!
