Schedul2.exe error at shutdown
Hello,
Yesterday I have updated Acronis True Image Home 2011 (with Plus Pack) to "update 3 (6942)". It seems to work fine, but sometimes (not always) at shutdown (of Windows XP Professional SP3), I get an error message about "schedul2.exe" (which I think is a module of Acronis True Image).
It isn't a big problem (I hope), since I just have click on OK and the shutdown proceeds normally (and the PC reboots without problems).
My concern is that this error is an indication that there are problems with True Image's main application... I don't think so, since I don't get error messages when using it, and thus if it seems to work well it is probably doing so. And furthermore as far as I understand "schedul2.exe" is a separate module, and if it has some problems when shutting down, it doesn't mean necessarily that there are problems also with the main application.
But I'm not sure. What do you think? Will my Acronis True Image do backups without problems, or will there be problems with the backup archives?
And furthermore, is there a way to solve the problem so that I don't get that error message?
Thanks.

Hello,
I have noticed that the error appears (at shutdown) only when I actually do a backup. If I just open ATIH2011 and then close it, non error appears at shutdown (at least I think it happened like this once). If it can be useful, the error is: "memory could not be read".
I don't see instructions to uninstall-reinstall the service on that page about Schedmgr.exe.
Anyway I have found the following page: http://kb.acronis.com/content/1518 ...there's a download available of "Acronis Scheduler 2 Build 467". My Schedul2.exe file is version 1.0.0.460, thus I think it is an older version. Wouldn't it be a better try to install a newer version of this module, instead of uninstalling-reinstalling with Schedmgr.exe? Should build 467 of "Acronis Scheduler 2" be compatible with Acronis True Image Home 2011 (with Plus Pack), and with Windows XP Professional (SP3)?
In any case, do you think that ATI should work well all the same? My backup jobs seem to complete successfully, and also the validations are OK.
I have thought the following:
1) Schedul2.exe does the work of starting backup jobs, both manually and automatically, right?
2) If the backup jobs actually start when I manually initiate them, this means that Schedul2.exe is working well, it does its work.
3) Then the actual backup process is taken over by the main application of ATIH2011 itself.
4) Since I get no error messages during backup, and the backups seem to complete successfully, also the main application should be working well.
Now I have a doubt... will that error/problem during shutdown mess with the shutdown process in general, or does Schedul2.exe just crash "on its own"? Could there be problems (caused by the Schedul2.exe crash) with other processes which are shutting down? Perhaps some windows settings which don't get saved, or other? The shutdown seems to complete normally, apart from that error, even if I don't click on OK on the error window (the PC shuts down all the same after some seconds, to reboot or turn off).
Thanks.

Thomas,
You don't run a lot of risk trying to install the latest schedul2.exe file, just do a full system backup before so that you can restore if something goes wrong (very unlikely0.
You could also just uninstall ATi 2011, reboot and reinstall. YOu would have to start fresh backup tasks. That might just fix it.
