Scheduled Backup Doesn't Start On Time

Thread needs solution

I have a Win 7 64 bit machine I built over the summer running TIH 2012.
I have a backup scheduled to run daily at 3:00 AM.
I leave the machine on overnight, but the back up does not run.
If I have not shut down the machine, the backup will run later in the day (yesterday it ran at 12:57 PM).
I have also noticed that it will sometimes run in the morning when I shut down the machine, as though it were set to run at shutdown (it is not).

Any thoughts on this strangeness?

Thanks,

John

Check the log to see if the task is attempting to start at the right time but failing.

Check your settings for the Backup Options, Advanced--run only when computer is idle. There might be some backuground programs runing that make ATI think the pc is not idle.

Try deleting the task. Create a new task with a Custom Scheme and see if the new task works correctly -- make the task do some small file backup so that you can test it more quickly.

check figure 17 at this link.

As Scott has recommended, Make sure this option is unchecked

"Run the Backup only when computer is idle."

Scott & GroverH,

"Run the Backup only when the computer is idle" was checked. I guess this could explain why it's not running at 3:00 AM when I am asleep, and why it sometimes runs at shutdown. However, why would it run while I am actively using the computer in the middle of the day??

The logs do not show any failed attempted backups at 3:00 AM.

I unchecked "Run the Backup only when the computer is idle" and will see what happens tonight.

Thank you both for your suggestions.

John

On the same screen, check to make sure the other two options are checked.
x Prevent from sleeping......
x Wake up the sleeping......

Other than the obvious, check you system time/date; delete task and recreate) the simpler solutions are probably exhausted.

You could try using msconfg.exe so only ati stuff is running and see if that makes a diff, itf so, you could trial-and-error to find the "conflict".
