Scheduled backup stops if a manual backup is run.
I have a scheduled backup set up. 1 full then 6 Inc. If I manually run the backup, the scheduled backup will stop working and never run again. My schedule is once a day at Startup or Shutdown. (Backup to second internal HDD). At times, such as just before installing a new application I like to be able to run a manual backup.

Chloe,
For manual backups,
The program offers the 'BACKUP NOW" option from inside the task;
or if you used the settings option, you can have a desktop shortcut created by the program on your desktop so a backup can be initiated via the shortcut without opening the program. Either program should initiate the type backup whatever is next in line based on the number of backups already within the recent version chain.
Which method are you using to create the Manual backup?
Also, editing a backup has been reported by many to cause unexpected results so my recommendation is not to edit.
Link #2 below and example 11-inc is one method which has worked for me.

Thanks Gentlemen,
I had set up a shortcut on the Desktop for my manual backups. Not sure why Acronis will not allow this to be done for a Scheduled Backup. (without stopping the scheduled Backups). I hadn't edited the Backup otherwise. I'll try setting up a new Inc. Backup task to be run manually without the Schedule.

Chloe,
When you created the desktop shortcut, did you use the option provided by the program to create its own shortcut? Beginnning with the 2011 or 2012, the syntax for shortcut changed. This is what the syntax looks like for XP Pro. Windows 7 would have a different initial path but would still use the Launcher program as below.
If by chance you are using a prior syntax, that could explain why you have this issue and no one else does. A special task should not normally be needed--or at least it has not for me if using XP or Win7 on 2012 or 2013 TrueImage.
After a task has been completed, you can use the program to create its own shortcut via Right clicking on the "SETTINGS" tab and clicking "Other" and then the "create shortcut" option.
A windows xp example:
"C:\Program Files\Acronis\TrueImageHome\TrueImageLauncher.exe" /script:92EF6E21-4339-4A24-B351-A5A84D8875DA
Win7-64:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome\TrueImageLauncher.exe" /script:92EF6E21-4339-4A24-B351-A5A84D8875DA

Thanks,
Yes, I have been creating the shortcut from Acronis just as you have shown.
The target Acronis 2013 generates for my Windows 8 system is:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome\TrueImageLauncher.exe" /script:DAC8238F-7EF9-4C00-8818-368B5CA3797F

Chloe,
Still pondering your dillema.
Next place to look might be the backup scheme. How are your options set in the backup scheme?
I posted my suggestion in post #2 as my preferred backup scheme. The option that works most consistently in the one to retain x number of recent version chains-- as shown in my example.
Edit: Addendum
Do you have any space limits set in TrueImage or are you using any kind of consolidation settings?
2nd Edit:
Which opton are you using as there is EITHER
Backup at System startup
or
Backup at System shutdown or restart.
Both cannot be selected-- or not at least on my win7 2013-6514.

Thanks for working on this with me.
My backup scheme is:
"Create a Full version every 6 Incrementals"
"Store no more that 3 recent version chains"
I haven't used consolidation, or set up space limits, validation, or any of the other Disk Backup Options.

I think this problem is related to Acronis Scheduler problems.
Once Chloe manually runs the scheduled task, the Acronis Scheduler scheduled task for this backup task does not get updated properly, and the Scheduler is no longer running the task properly, possibly because an invalid entry (or next run date/time) in the Acronis Scheduler for this task.
One suggestion would be to apply the latest update to the scheduler, and then recreate the scheduled task.
Updated Scheduler is here: http://kb.acronis.com/content/1518
The other option is to not use the Acronis Scheduler and switch to using Windows Task Manager to scheduler this job.

Interesting James,
I recently installed Scheduler 2 build 8216. 8216 only showed up a couple of weeks ago in the Kb.
It still has the same problem after I tried it for a few days. I never tried Windows 8 Scheduler. I will take a swing at it.
Thanks

I haven't experiemented with this in W8, but could the fact we are dealing with W8 have any bearing on this problem?

Chloe,
So far in my testing with Win7-64, the program appears to be working but it could be too soon to tell.
Have you looked at the log files especially on the days when the program should have run abut did not?

Checking the log file, I see that nothing at all was recorded for the first day after I ran a manual backup.
Initial(Day 1): Full Backup created
Day 2: Incremental by Schedule -Ok
Day 3: Incremental by Schedule -Ok
Day 4: Incremental by Schedule -Ok
Day 4: Manual Backup initiated from Acronis shortcut -Ok -Log shows "Operation Started Manually" .
Day 5: Backup Missed -No log generated for today
Day 6: Backup Missed -No log generated for today

Still having the same problem. This is happening on both my Windows 8 and XP installs with ATI2013.
