Scheduler Stopped and Nonstop Backup is stopped messages

Thread needs solution

I am getting two messages, one at boot up and one all the time (it seems) that trouble me.

1. On boot up, I get a rectangular icon in the application tray at the bottom of the screen saying 'Scheduler is Stopped' (or words to that effect). It disappears after a few seconds. Is this a transient message that appears because the scheduler service is slow to start? The Acronis Scheduler 2 Service that shows up in the MS Services window shows a blank status (rather than Started) and a startup type as Manual. This does not seem right, but what can I do about it (if I need to do anything).

2. My Nonstop Backup icon shows that 'Nonstop Backup is Stopped'. Does this mean that is has never started, or that there is nothing to backup, and it will start when there is something to backup. If the latter, the words in the description are a bit misleading, and they could possibly be softened to give a better impression of what is going on.

So - any thoughts or suggestions?

I too have trouble with 'Scheduler is Stopped' . Also the program does not open past .tib files.
Help would be appreciated

Jdc,

The scheduler service start should be "automatic". Try to set it this way in services.msc, properties, ... If you can't, uninstall, reboot, reinstall.

Not sure about the second one, but first I'd make sure the scheduler service works OK. For NSB, you might want to try modifying afile and verify it is backed up correctly.

Thank you for your feedback. I think that I have got to the bottom of the 'Scheduler is Stopped' message. In services.msc the Statup Type is Automatic (Delayed Start) which is fine as I do not want it to be mixed up in the main boot process. It disappears after 30 secs or so - I guess that it goes when the thing actually starts.

I am still uncomfortable with the 'Nonstop Backup is Stopped' message. I suspect that it has put itself to sleep as it has nothing to back up as I have checked into the backup area, and the files there are current. The message is just misleading, and the manual on how it works is not helpful. I will continue to check. Shame - I should be able to trust that it is doing what it should do.

Yes, I keep getting the taskbar notification 'Nonstop Backup is Stopped' with Acronis 2014. I go into the notification area and use the icon to restart it, but it doesn't seem right - if it's supposed to be non-stop, then it shouldn't say it has stopped unless there's an error. The log shows no errors, and shows the Non-stop Backup operation 'completed' just before the message that it has stopped. So what does 'Non-stop' really mean?

I understand that it will only be active when there are new or changed files to backup, but the message is confusing - does it mean it won't backup changes any more? Should I restart it or not?

I've asked about this with previous versions of Acronis, and never had an explanation. Now this is still happening with Acronis 2014, I'm seriously considering moving to a different product.

I also had the 'Scheduler is Stopped' message at startup.
I seem to have cured it by changing the Scheduler service from Automatic (Delayed Start) to Automatic. If this is a necessary setting I do wonder why the installation program doesn't set it that way by default.
