Select Win7's 100MB Reserved Partition or Not?

Thread needs solution

I've been asked and don't know the answer to this! Do you have to select the 100MB System Reserved Partition that Windows 7 Created when asked what to backup? Apparently the person see's their C:\NTFS Partition then they also see this 100MB System Reserved partition?

I've read up and found that this partition is created by 7's installation routine and contains boot files etc however the user of True Image version 2010 thinks they've not selected it, did a backup and successfully attempted a full restore?

Is this possible? What to do?

Hello Roger,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.

This System Reserved Partition should be included into the backup. You should tick the appropriate box, or you should put the check mark against Disk 1. This selects the entire drive - including that System partition. Otherwise, the restored operating system will be unbootable.

This is impossible. I assume that this system didn't contain the System Reserved Partition at all. If you create a system partition using any partitioning software prior installing the operating system, Windows 7 places these boot files into this system partition and doesn't create the System Reserved Partition.

Please see this  thread, it contains the exact sequence of the actions you should perform during the recovery.

Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or you need a further assistance.

Thank you.

Interesting? I have a Windows 7 install and do not have a System Reserved Partition. Does this mean that I will not be able to do a Universal System Restore? Is my purchase of the Plus Pack a waste?
