Selective deletion of older chains

Thread needs solution

I moved to a new computer and rebuilt my tasks from scratch, I have 6 terrabtes of old backups on my external drive going back over a year. As the new tasks start filling the drive, I need to delete the older ends of chains.

The old chains appear in the Acronis backup and recovery list with an option to Recover.

I tried following the guide at http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ATIH2013/index.html#…

To delete a specific backup version:
On the Backup and recovery tab, find the corresponding backup box and click the Recover button or click the gear icon and then click Recover files (in case of a disk backup). <<< I can do this and select the oldest chain, but I do not want to recover
In Backup explorer, right-click on the time line the version you want to delete, and then click Delete version. << this second part I do not understand - I see no Explorer

Look at signature link #2A below and browse inside that link to link GH5 near the end.
It will illustrate the method to delete old chains which are listed on the main menu as tasks to recover.
