Simple C: Backup taking ... forever ... ?
I'm using 2011 on XP SP3. I'm trying to do a very simple backup of my C: drive before doing some cleanup "stuff". The backup isn't huge, only 61GB, less than 1/3 of the drive (I don't use my C: drive for anything but O/S stuff). I'm trying to backup to another drive that has a LOT of space that I've written other backups to before.
For the last 35 minutes Acronis has been saying "Validating 'C-backup-111611" and "Time Remaining: calculating..." while apparently doing absolutely nothing.
Is there any reason anyone can think of why it is taking so long to do nothing?

The time estimated at the beginning of a backup is always much longer than the later estimates as the backup progresses. This has more to do with peculiarities of ntfs than ati and it's more or less true of all programs that try to estimate long file operations under ntfs.
The first issue, it sounds like either ypur PC became hung, ati became hung, or ati was having trouble validating the backup after creating it (yo have it set to validate after backup?).
IF it never worked, it probably means it's not compatible with your particular hardware set up.
If ati once worked but suddenly doens't, it could be you need to reinstall. Or that you have a bad spot in memory or on your source or target disk.
