skeduled backup failure

Thread needs solution

From my experience I believe that is most possible that a working system fails between power off and power on.
Because that I always made my backup before power off.
I tried to use the feature of ACRONIS True Image Home 2011 to execute on schedule my backup in the following way
Upon event/System shutdown/Once a day

Version Chain Scheme

Problem: when I shutdown Windows Acronis backup starts but Windows terminate the operation and the backup fails.

Do I forget something in my setting? Is there something more to do to make it working?
Thanks Alberto

It should work, but it doesn't for several users, clearly.

An alternative is to add the shutdown command as a post command of a backup. You then run the backup and the computer will shut down at this end.

It is a pity. What you suggest is a work around I am actually using, but if is ok for me it may be difficult for the other user who share my computer. I might have unpredictable results. I experimented the solution to backup at system start up but when is time of a full backup it may take long time before system will be available. As far as you know this problem is solved with 2012 version?

You can use your computer while you backup. There is no risk.

We have seen some posts of users having trouble with the "on shutdown" option of 2012. Your mileage will vary. You will have to try. If you try 2012, make a complete system backup before you upgrade. This will make it easy for you to go back to your current version if you encounter difficulties with 2012.

I am constantly finding, when I need to restore, your backup are corrupt. Moreover, backups are not being done on schedule. As a consequence, I've just had a need to restore and the latest back up (though they were scheduled to occur every two days) was two weeks ago. And, those backups are corrupt. It doesn't matter whether they're incremental or differential. This would be less of a problem if the system would alert me to the problems, but it doesn't (even though emails are set to go out). Further, there's the issue of running out of space. I set the config to keep backups under 500 GB but that doesn't work either. I also get many failed backup over (can't read ...). I've only been saved by Carbonite. What should I make of these VERY serious issues? Shall I just abandon your program? What's the point of an upgrade for new features if the old program can't carry out the features its supposed to have? Basically, your program leaves me very insecure.

Just in case anyone is looking at this thread, and having the same problem. I had this problem. All I did was change the Operation Priority to "High". Now, shutdown waits for Acronis to complete. I have TIH 2011 and Windows XP.
