Software crashing after restoring from Acronis Image backup

Thread needs solution

I have multiple IBM laptops purchased as shown below. All of the laptops are exactly the same "Type"; which means exactly the same hardware configuration (I have verifed this with IBM support and sales offices)

IBM X61 (2pcs)
S/N: L3-T3048 08/07 (TYPE: 7673-5GG)

IBM T400 (7 pcs)
R8-1271G (TYPE: 6474-VHA)

I have used Acronis True Image Home 2010 earlier successfully.

What I do is, create a Master system in which all the software are loaded and then I take an Image of that hdd and use it to restore to the other laptops (of the same Model and Type). This is done to save on time and effort.

The problems are:

1. On the T400 laptops, the cloned systems have the MS Office 2007 application crashing in between while the users are working. This does not happen on the Master system.

While working, it displays a message "The application has detected a serious error and need to close" (not exact msg) and terminates and the users lose the work they have done after the last "save". This has been happening on 6 different systems.

2. On the X61, I restore exactly the same image back on the system and it show that the "Filemakes 4.0v2" cannot open some files and displays the same message as the attached pic and closes/terminates. Yes, it is a japanese version and yes, I have installed all the required fonts etc to support this. I have done this successully over 50 times and I am sure it is not a software issue.

I am trying to figure out if there is anything that I can do to resolve this without having to format and re-install each system again individually. This was ironically my main purpose of using the Acronis software.

I would appreciate any help that I can get on this regard.

Hoping for a quick response,

Raul

Which version of TI are you using? If one of the recent versions (2009, 2010, or 2011) then you should check the file exclusions setting to see which files are being excluded when creating an image. I believe that it was TI 2009 that excluded *.bak files from an image by default, and Microsoft Office uses these files. Later versions of TI exclude *.tib, *.tmp, and *.~ from images by default. Perhaps the lack of files having one of these extensions is causing problems with the applications on the non-Master PCs. You could check this by creating an image of the master with no files excluded and seeing what happens when the image is restored to another PC.

There were some discussions of this issue on the forum here: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/4218

Additionally, if you have done this process successfully before, what is different now? Are the versions of TI in use the same?
