Some General Questions about True Image

Thread needs solution

Hey everyone.

I am thinking about buying True Image, but I got a few question about the software. How stable is the software? I have read comments of others stating there is glitches and bugs in it. This worries me, because if I am going to back up my system I need the software to work 100%. Could anyone explain to me what could happen during the back up and what could go wrong and maybe how to prevent it? Even though I am backing up my drive, I need the other drive for my other computer. So there is no going back.

I am on Windows XP. I want to transfer data from my 160 gb hard drives to my 300 gb hard drives, would this mess up my partition table on the 300 gb hd? As in, would I have 140 gbs of unused space? Both drives are data/storage hard drives. Should I look into any tutorials on how to back up my drive, or is it pretty straight forward? I have the trial version True Image Home 2010. Should I buy the software before backing up (does the trial lack key features to backing up my system?) or could I do a test run with the trial?

Thanks for reading my thread

If it is only data you want to transfer use something like Karen's Replicator or Microsoft's Sync Toy. If you want to backup the entire system drive then True Image will do the job. Read the Sticky up above by GroverH - lots of useful info. including for beginners.

Thanks for the tip, but I did look it over. Though I have some games installed on this hard drive so I will probably have to use True Image or something, but thanks for the reply.
