Splitting backup....
I have a backup of my C: and M: drives.
I'd like to move a copy of just the c:\ and system portions of the backup to a new disk from which I will restore to a new machine.
Is it possible to split this backup into the c and system pieces?

John,
If your goal is to restore to a new machine you will need an all-partition backup of your disk to maximize the chance of success. If you are computer savvy and you know for sure that M: doesn't contain anything that Windows needs, then you can try without it.
If you have doubts, but still want a smaller backup, and just want to move the system, make an all-partition backup BUT add exclusions to the backup (for example big data files, etc.).
Also, if you want to restore to a new machine, you will need the Plus Pack to restore to different hardware (Universal Restore Option).

Thanks for the replies... here's why I was asking this question.
My backup is on an external hard drive that is encrypted with truecrypt. If I start with the Acronis ISO and boot, True Image won't be able to recognize the external drive. Rather than spend the time to decrypt it, I thought about moving just the C and system backup portion to a smaller, unencrypted drive and restoring from that. Because the C and system drive backups should only be about 20G, this would be easy since my M drive is huge and has only data on it. Sounds like I won't be able to do this and will have to decrypt the backup drive first...

You could try connecting the new drive to the old system and doing the restore in Windows. Then put the drive in the new system. It may not work, but it might be worth the try.
I haven't tried accessing a TrueCrypt drive from WinPE, but that would also be an option if it would work. You could boot into WinPE, mount the TrueCrypt volume/drive, run TI, and restore the image.
