start task every week when shutdown

Thread needs solution

Hello All,

Maybe someone can help me?
I search the forum and try by myself but I am not successfully.

What I like to do is the folowing:

create a task starting every week (monday) when "I" shutdown the computer.

I found the shoutdown option (but I can not combine a special day and that option starting when shutdown).

I hope you understand what I mean because my english is not so good.

I use ATIH 2011, Win7

Thank you in advance for any help.

Not for sure if I do understand what your asking but what I'm seeing is that if you go to "operations" from an item on your "My backups" then go to "edit backup settings" then go to "file backup options" you can tell Acronis to shut down after the task is complete. I have a feeling you are asking about something else but not sure.

Hello CoreyF,
thank you for answer.

In Version 2011 (under win7) you have the possibility to create a task who !start's! if you shutdown windows. That's a good thing because if I finish my work I shutdown windows and the task start's and do his job and than the comuter is off.
So far so good.

But I only found the options under "Event": daily > (once the day).

But what I like is to have this once a week and I dont want to start it manually.
For example: Every monday if I shutdown windows the task start's because the Event is "shutdown".

Mybe you have an Idea?

Thanks in advance!

I see now what you are looking for. I don't see that this is possible. You cannot set a schedule when you choose the "event" option. I don't see a way this can be done. I would just set it on the "weekly" schedule and set a time. If you do this I recommend you turn off your screesaver/power settings (set to NEVER) in display properties.

Also, turn off "automatically check for updates on startup" in Acronis. (Go to Help>check for updates>after it checks for updates the next window pops up and can uncheck the box). Just to updates manually periodically.

If shutdown is about the same time each Monday, why not create a task to start the backup at a specific time but include the shutdown command as part of the pre/post backup options post command.

Even if you started the task a few minutes before you are actually done with the computer, that's no problem and the computer will finish the backup and shut down at the appointed time.

Thanks CoreyF, Thanks GroverH.

I see. There is no way to do it like I want. To say the truth. Its for a customer who never done a backup and always forget to do one.
To make it easy for him, I thought I can use the Event option shutdown to start the backup task. So he would never forget to make a backup because if he finish the work and shutdown the computer the task starts. Maybe you ask yourself why I dont make the backup when the computer starts? The backup data is over 300GB and I like to make incrementel backups + validation. and that takes 2 hours and make the computer slow. That's why I like to start it after the work is done. So I have to think over what to do and if I can find a way to make it automaticlly.

But till than I will tray it with a link on the desktop so he must start it manuell.

Thanks to you both spending time for my problem. And sorry for my bad english.

Gosar,
Another possibility would be this.
If the backups are to an external drive, consider using MVP's MudCrab's Drive Notify.

You could use either Windows Scheduler or TrueImage scheduler and start True Image at a pre-designated date or time and Drive Notirfy would be a part of the Pre/post options in the "pre" setting.

When the backup time arrives, a message appears on the screen from Drive Notify to attach the specific external drive. The message sits on the screen and does nothing until the correct drive is attached. Then (using the free version), the user must click on the screen message to tell the program that the proper drive is attached. If the program agrees on the correct match, then the backup will begin and when it finishes, you could have a Pre/post option in the post setting which would shutdown the computer.

More info about Drive Notify can be found inside my signature index below in item 8A and *-AA.

Hi GroverH,
In this case there is no external drive in use. But your reply sounds good.
I will test it. Maybe I can combine it with the internal backup or use it for another user who uses a external drive.
I also marked your side (signatur) with all the informations.
Thanks again.
