Stuck in a loop trying to install ATI 2013

Thread needs solution

I just installed Windows 8 after backing up various files using ATI to an external HD. When I installed ATI 2013 to retrieve these file initially all went well. I could see and extract the files. After a few reboots however the ATI icon on the desktop lost its properties and the software would no longer work. I realised this might be because I had installed it not on the C drive. I attempted a repair install using the set up .exe but this failed - message saying perhaps not a valid windows installer. I then tried to hit Uninstall. Same thing. "TrueImageHome" not a valid file name. Interestngly it does not now appear in the list of programs in Control Panel, so can't uninstall that way.
Top and bottom of all this is that without it I can't get at my backups.
Strangely also despite this being 2013 software my support appears to have run out in Dec 2012!
Hope someone can suggest something!

I think the first thing you need to do is download the installer file again from your Acronis account.

It should make no difference as to what drive or partition you install TI on, certain files will always be installed in the C:\ program files anyway.
