Successfully Loaded TIB in a VM
As some of you may know, VMWare Workstation doesn't play nice with newer TIB files. I did a bunch of searching and it appeared that in order to create a VM out of a TIB file, you would first need to convert it to a Microsoft VHD. Then convert the VHD to a VM. That seemed cumbersome...and being lazy...I cheated and found an easy work around.
1. Create a new VM in workstation.
2. Load the Acronis bootable media as the install disk.
3. Use the recovery tools, of the bootable media, to write the TIB image to the VM.
- It worked like a charm. I was able to read the TIB file off of a USB hard drive by connecting it to the VM.
I did run into an error with a corrupt MBR table. Booting from the windows disk and running the repair tools fixed this.
I'm back up and running, within a VM, and recovering data from a program I no longer have.
<3 Acronis products.
Hope this is of use to you guys!
