Sudden trueimage icon appeared in the notification area!
Today I found the sudden trueimage icon appeared in the notification area as attached snapshot!
By clicking right or left, it does not show any response, it just stay!
I am the user of TrueImage from the early version (more than 10 years), but I never seen such icon!
1. It appears several minutes after PC start.
2. It can not be terminated by mouse clicking icon!
3. It re-creates even after restoring the backup or re-installing TrueImage.
4. The same error occurs on my other PC!
5. Backup operation works normally by manual or scheduling.
6. No error log for this status.
Please report the similar error experiences and recovery method for this!

I have the same issue on my system here.
The same icon mysteriously started to appear in the notification area yesterday. It's associated with TrueImageMonitor.exe. It doesn't show any "hint" when you hover over it, it doesn't show any context menu when you press the "left-mouse-button" and it doesn't invoke any UI when you "double-click" on it.
This is definitely a new behavior that I've not seen before (and I'm pretty picky about what's on my desktop).
One question that I have. Did you recently move or copy files that TIH2014 may be referencing? For instance, did you copy or move a disk drive to a new drive or reproduce the data on a disk drive that has backup files that TIH2014 was maintaining?
The reason why I ask is that I recently (2 days ago, just before this started) copied all the files on my disk where TIH2014 stores my backups and reformatted that disk drive to be a GPT disk drive. I noticed this icon started showing up during the time I was copying these files.
I'm thinking that this may be related somehow.
One other thing I should mention is that in trying to get rid of that icon (it just pops up sometime after I'm logged in and you can't get rid of it until you stop the TrueImageMonitor.exe process), I downloaded the newest version (posted 8/20) of TIH2014 and installed it. That icon still mysteriously "pops up" sometime after I'm logged in.
Anyone else have this issue? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Paul

The same mysterious icon on my Windows 7 PC in the notification area since yesterday . A new installation of ATI 2014 has not solved the problem. Only shutdown or disable autostart of the TrueImageMonitor.exe process does the icon disappear.
I am grateful for any help.

Same problem.
Exactly the same problem has occurred on my Vista desktop PC, starting on Wednesday 17 September. The icon appears in the notification area several minutes after user logon. It does not respond to hovering the cursor over it, right clicking, left clicking or double clicking. It disappears if the true image monitor process is terminated via the task manager.
It can be listed in the “notification area” tab of the taskbar’s properties in the part that controls displaying or hiding icons in the notification area. Other such listed icons are displayed together with their program titles. The title for this icon is “no title” (in angle brackets). See attached image.
I’d be grateful for any help.

Hello All,
I think it is associated with the True Image 2015 upgrade notification. The behaviour seems similar to what I described in that thread earlier today, although it is a different icon (see attachment).

Well, if that's the case, and it looks like it is, I'm not going to purchase any more Acronis backup software for my personal use.
I PAY for software so that I don't get this kind of crap! This software has now become, to me, no better than a freeware, "teasersoft", trial version of software for which I was duped into actually paying money.
Of course, if there's a quick and effective response to this software bug, then I would consider that positively.
I'm extremely disappointed,
Paul

I heard that this mysterus icon is due to the notification of new release 2015 from the local support! they told me to stop the startup of trueimagemonitor.exe by MSCONFIG command (unfortunetely the animation icon is also not displayed when executing the backup!!!, Big joke!), but did not answer when its notification disappears.
Maybe it will disappear on September 24 (2015 release), I hope so!
But this is definettely bug of Acronis because it just stays on the nitification area without any message, and it can not access by mouse (no response for mouse clicking). I asked them to stop this notification by not sending the popup alert from their server. No answer for this!

I have this icon also. Don't know what it means or does but it just sits there taking up space. Thanks Acronis developers! Just what I needed an icon that doesn't work.

Same here. Very annoying, especially if it is connected to the new version updater alert. This update to 2015 has already been sent to me via email. Come on Acronis, get rid of it!

I just went to take a look in my tray just now and you won't believe this but there is 2 of those stupid icons there. This company has lost their mind. I am going to uninstall and reinstall this whole mess. I will edit this post to fill you in after I reinstall.
OK, reinstalled the whole 6688 build and got the useless icon back, but just 1 this time. Sooner or later someone will figure this out and hopefully they will come on here and let us all know so we can get rid of it.

I had this icon appear today and only by going into on the taskbar icons could I determine that it was Acronis related. I honestly thought it was malware of some kind. Its only appeared the once for me but if it shows again I will hide it via the options. Have you folks tried that ?

Yes I have hidden it,but the thing we all want to know is what the heck is this stupid icon here for? It has no working parts or values. It is just a useless icon.

Solved mine with firewall rules blocking any and all ATI stuff.

I guess I will have to write Acronis a WTF note and see what this thing stands for. I doubt they will answer me before the next ice age but what the heck, it's free.
Can you believe I tried using the support site to send Acronis an email and it gets all greyed out to contact them by email. I guess I have to shell out some dough to be able to fire off an email. I think it used to be free to send emails but they probably got overwhelmed because I never did get an email answer from them.

I believe we've all come to the conclusion this icon is related to "notifications"
I agree with MVP Colin's suggestion of disabling "trueimagemonitor" from start up in MSCONFIG.... However, this also disables task and operations notifications.

Has anyone tried unchecking the "Automatically check for updates at startup" dialog box?

Joey, that's the first thing I tried when I realised it had to do with updates. This has made no difference to me - still getting the useless and annoying icon.

Everyone is probably somewhat right about the reason this stupid little icon keeps appearing. I tried writing tech support via Acronis support but they have this pay per incident that just about covers all forms of support including email. I think we just might have to suck it up about this icon and wait till Acronis pulls it together and gets rid of it. In the meantime just hide it.

Same problem here! It took me some time to realize that the useless icon was related to Acronis True Image, then googling a bit I could land in this thread.
A very disappointed user.

It's been around for a bit now my friend. Not hurting anything, I hope, but what the Hell was Acronis thinking? They just keep pissing people off. I was hoping by now when I saw your email that you might have a solution and Acronis charges you to email questions that are help related. 9 out of 10 of their products are great, but then they go and do stupid things like this icon and it totally puts their credibility back. If you dig further and happen to find a solution make sure you come here and post it.

There are basically (2) ways of stopping the daily marketing advertisements for TI2015. Both methods are outlined in this thread over in the TI2015 forum:
https://forum.acronis.com/forum/65648
I've used both the Firewall rule method and the method that adds a simple argument into the hosts file. Both were 100% effective in blocking the advertisements without causing me any other problems using TI2014. Once Acronis fixes that problem on their own, I can remove the (2) methods, or just leave them there in case there is a future round of nag-messaging.

OK guys, I understand about the Hosts file and I added the entry there and the icon disappeared for hours after the reboot but this morning the entry in the Hosts file was gone and the crappy little icon was back. Still scratching my head about the entry leaving the Hosts file. I saved it, yes so unless anyone else can figure this out I will just live with this stupid Acronis hiccup.

After you modify & save the hosts file, change it to read only.

In my case the Acronis True Image Icon remains after a backup is completed AND it affects the operation of my PC. I have my Task Bar and Navigation Properties set to "Auto-hide the Task Bar". The Task Bar normally automatically pops up when I move the mouse pointer to the bottom of the screen and will again hide when the mouse pointer is moved away. When the ATI2015 icon is present in the Notification area, the Task Bar will not pop up automatically and will sometimes not pop up at all. I have found that if I perform a mouse click at the very bottom of the screen, the Task Bar will occasionally eventually appear. When it does appear, I have to click on it to hide it.
I have discovered that I can click on the ATI2015 notification icon and bring up the True Image application. I then do nothing but close the application after which the icon disappears and my task bar functions normally again. By the way, I have true image configured so that it sends an email to me to notify me of the completion of a backup. Backups seem to complete even when the ATI2015 icon remains in the notification area.
I did not have this problem until after I installed ATI2015. I previously had ATI2014 installed.

This icon seems to have now disappeared from my Laptop. Haven't seen it for a few days now.
