Sync Destination folder does not exist

Thread needs solution

I am having problems setting up sync. I select the first folder and second folder, then when I select create sync, it has a think before responding "The desitination folder does not exist". It seems to do this regardless of the directories I pick (and they do all exist). Has anybody got this to work on local drives.

DaveW,

Can you explain the setup you are using in more detail? Sync is designed for PC to PC or PC to virtual synchronisation not folder to folder.

It could be network problem if you are going between two PC's physical or virtual.

Where are you trying to create the folders, eg: My Documents or somewhere else?

I have had sync working between virtual PC's to physical and between a laptop and workstation.

I have done some more checks and I have the following.
It is all running from one PC, I am trying to synchronise a folder on my NAS box with a folder either on my PC or on a USB port. I have since discovered two issues:
The first issue, if I try and sync a folder on the PC with another (empty) folder on the PC, so as to create a synchronised backup. It will set up and start but it never actually copies any files over.
The second issue, if I try and use a folder on my NAS box (and it doesn't matter whether this is the first or second folder selected) it reports the above error message, this is even after I have correctly entered the username and password to access the NAS box. This is by entering the IP address for the NAS box. If I use either a mapped drive or use the NAS box name (all of which work from Windows explorer) then I get the situation outlined in number 1 above (i.e. it sets up the sync but doesn't actually do anything).
I have disabled IPv6 as mentioned in this forum, I have also tried with the mapped drive removed.
Any advice would be useful, as contrary to a lot of comments in this forum, 2012 does work quite well for me (better than others I have used in the past)

Rushing at the moment....... check your firewall is preventing sync from wokring and what NAS box are you using? Some versions of QNAP are a problem with 2012. Are you are able to make images or file backups to the NAS OK?
