sync not working between two computers via Acronis cloud

Thread needs solution

running acronis 2015 on a win 8.1 PC and acronis 2014 on a win 8.1 laptop. Sync is set up via acronis cloud. Acronis sync says computer files are synced but they are not. It looks like files created on the laptop are listed on the cloud but are not being updated to the acronis 2015 pc.

That is expected behavior. The sync feature of True Image 2015 is a cloud based sync in which you sync data to the cloud which gives you access to that data from all your devices by access your cloud account.

This was changed from the previous sync feature in which it was possible to sync files/folders locally between 2 computers for example. See the link below:

Well you cannot get the sync feature of TI 2015 to sync locally with another computer. You would have to resort to using something such as SyncToy for that purpose.

Well, both computers are set up to sync with the cloud, but it seems to work only with one computer, the one running TI 2014.

Files from both computers end up on the cloud, but the one running TI 2015 doesn't get the ones generated by the one running TI 2014.

The point is that the application is only designed to sync with your cloud account. This is suppose to give you access to the synced data from any device via your cloud account. Maybe the link below might help:

No, This link,

http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ATI2015/index.html#2…

"About Sync" says "You can have the same data - documents, photos, videos, etc. - on all of your computers and mobile devices with iOS and Android operating systems. Your data is within easy reach anywhere and anytime. No more emailing files to yourself or carrying an USB drive all the time."

It's not working as advertised.

In order to for the sync feature to work you must follow these instructions:

To sync files and folders:

On the sidebar, click Sync.
If you are not signed in, enter your Acronis account credentials.
Perform one of the following:
If this is your first sync, click Start, and then select the folder that you want to synchronize. True Image will start synchronizing with Acronis Cloud. This is your default sync. Refer to Default sync for details.
For the second and later syncs, you first need to decide if you want to include Acronis Cloud in your new sync. Choose the appropriate sync type, and then select the folder that you want to synchronize.
To join this sync, start Acronis True Image 2015 on your other computers, select this sync in the Sync section, click Join sync, and then select the folder that you want to synchronize.

Also have a look at this link: https://kb.acronis.com/content/48662 The pertinent part is "Local and mixed synchronization -- Allows to sync 2 folders on local drives. See Acronis True Image 2015: Local and Mixed Synchronization Is Not Supported." Which as this KB Article points out has been DISCONTINUED.

Your sync is cloud based. If you want other computers to sync with what is synced on the cloud then you must JOIN those computers with the cloud sync. Are you saying that this is not working for you?

Yes, I'm saying that the cloud based sync between two computers was set up but is not working as advertised. The computers are listed as joined, but the sync seems to be one sided.

Tony,

The sync is hard to debug for users like us because it relies on the cloud. Since you have one computer running 2014 and another running 2015, maybe the version difference explains this. You should contact Acronis support.

I believe that Pat has a valid point here. The different versions of TI use sync in entirely different manners and is very likely at the root of the problem.

It looks like it's working now. I had to move my database files out of the sync folder. The different versions of acronis seem to work alright together (documentation says anything 2012 and newer should be able to sync).

Thank you for your suggestions!

Ahh, database files, TI 2014 does not support sync of database files, not sure about 2015 but is probably the same.
