Target drive running out of space

Thread needs solution

Am using Windows7 32-bit, Acronis home 2011 build 5519. I get above message consistently on two different external drives. If I say ignore, everything is backed up. Tthe log file below is from a drive that has 300GB free out of 1TB (just clicked on properties), and I'm backing up about 80GB, so I can't see any reason this should happen. Have run Seagate software on the drive - no problems detected (and I have the same issue on a second external). Have also used acronisscheduler458, which made no difference.

Hello John,

Thank you for your post and welcome to our forum. I will do my best to assist you.

I studied the logs and it seems the backup fails with this error: target drive is running out of space, even though you have plenty of space on your target drive.

Unfortunately we do not have any known issues such as this, that is why I would like to forward this problem to our Testing lab so that we can reproduce it and get a fix date from our Development team, in case this turns out to be a known issue with our software.

Do you remember how you installed version 2011 on your machine, was it over Acronis True Image 2010 Home?

I will definitely post here as soon as I have additional information.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Anton,

I am also experiencing this same problem. I had installed the 2011 trial over top of 2010 and after I purchased my upgrade I activated it with the upgrade code and then the Plus code. I am backing up to a 2 TB NAS with PLENTY of free room.

Is there an update to this issue yet? Will it be fixed in the next update? Do you need additional info?

Thanks,
Mike

Hello Mike Z,

Thank you for the followup. I will do my best to assist you.

We were not able to get this issue reproduced, it is possible this problem could be related to the backup settings and cleanup rules.

Thank you very much for your offer to send additional info, I would really appreciate if you could send me a private message with the following:

1. AcronisInfo and Acronis Report (in case the AcronisInfo report fails to generate it)

2. Screenshots of all the tabs in the backup settings, please check this example.

3. A screenshot or a brief description of your backup location, how many backups are there.

Looking forward to your reply and if you have additional questions please let me know.

Thank you.

I don't know what it takes for an issue to be "known" at Acronis, but a customer solved this problem 10 months ago and posted the solution here in the forum: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/5844#comment-18746 (worked for me). A search on "Target drive running out of space" reveals numerous customers reporting the same issue with TI 2010 and Acronis support promising to look into it...

Hello mikeg,

Thank you very much for your post. Please let me explain the situation.

This http://forum.acronis.com/forum/5844#comment-18746 was a known issue with Acronis True Image 2010 Home, which, Robert correctly identified was caused by that threshold setting.

Most likely the new problem is caused by something else, that is why it would really help us if we could take a look at this additional information.

If you have additional questions, please let me know.

Thank you.

I am having the same problem! Has the cause been identified yet? I have 1.4TB free for a 77GB backup.
