THI 2012 - portion of backup script incorectly executed twice - probable bug

Thread needs solution

installed 2012. imported 2011 scripts. on one script:

full+daily incremental with every 30 day full + 121 day cleanup. script worked in 2010 and 2011.

in 2012, job runs full 2 days in a row. deleted script. recreated script from scratch. same result. tried a new script with different source/sync. same result. since source is 500+GB, daily fulls are a bit much. also, keep origional full is not checked.

I have exactly this problem and have raised a fault. They tell me this has not been reported before and the developers will be contacting me within a week or so.

I have a NAS drive that can hold two or three full backups of my D: (data) drive. The amount of data is around 400GB. The job was a full/incremental file/folder backup with a full after every 6 incrementals with a retention of two full cycles. The second day I got another full backup. Not only that but it backed up two folders that I'd excluded causing the script to wait for a response because files were in use. The files were my Outlook .PST files and are in a separate folder which I'd excluded. A full backup takes about 9 hours on my PC to a gigabit NAS drive so to have it wait for a response when files were in use was a bit of a nuisance as I'd left it to get on with it unattended.

The workaround is to change the backup type to disk/partition and all works OK. It doesn't even complain at the .PST files being in use because the backup uses a 'snapshot' system.

This describes my situation quite well.

Also another point... 2010 and 2011 used to handle open files quite well. I now get open pst files every once in a while under 2011. Sounds like the same for you. How do you deal with incremental disk/partition backups? Does it only store sectors that change?
