TI 10 Home ~ unable to recover backup files

Thread needs solution

I have been attempting to restore my PC to an earlier backup for over a week now.  Disc 1 has 3 partitions - C drive for Vista OS, E drive for my programs & F drive for my Documents & I backup by simply backing up the 3 partitions & doing regular incremental backups.  I have tried doing a conventional recovery & this goes along until it hits 'filesystem_bot.myb' when everything seems to freeze.  Alternatively I have attempted a recovery using 'restore disc or partition' specifying drives C, E & MBR but all that happens is that a re Boot takes place - Acronis tells me to 'wait while it is loading' on a text screen & nothing further happens.  This is so frustrating as I do regular backups to my Maxtor OneTouch external hard drive & the first time I need to use it in anger it lets me down.

Any ideas please?

Are you using the latest build of TI 10 (4,942)?

Does the backup image validate successfully from Windows? Does it validate successfully when booted to the TI CD?

If TI can't start successfully from the CD, have you tried the quiet acpi=off noapic option detailed in Section II of the Read Before You Post thread?

Yes, I am using the latest build though I have never tried launching TI from the CD.  I have verified the validity of the backup from the normal TI program launch.

Correction ~ the file quoted should have read 'filesystem_blobs.myd'

I will now try out your suggestions.

Thank you for your guidance.

I couldn't get TI 2009 to work with my Maxtor One-Touch (external USB drive). It could make the backup and verify it, but couldn't restore from it - I was aghast, I needed that restore.. Had to go back to TI 11.

Sounds to me as though TI 2010 has the same trouble - and same ridiculous "workaround" suggestion to copy the backup to internal drive (!).

I guess I will just keep my TI 11 forever. It works reliably every time.

Hello all,

I understand the question and will do everything possible from my side to solve the issue.

Cnmoore can you please clarify the issue in more details? In what exact moment the program refuses to recover the image? If you receive any error messages please provide them. Have you tried to use Acronis bootable disc or restore the image in Windows?

Alan in case you experience an issue with booting Acronis rescue media I have sent you the latest ISO image of Acronis bootable disc via PM. This ISO image is based on different loader which has better hardware support.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you.

Dmitry,

It was a long time ago that I tried 2009. As I remember, it could see the USB external hard drive (Maxtor One-touch) but could not see the backup files it had made. I don't remember if it could restore when booted from its recovery CD.

I'm completely happy with Acronis 11 which does everything I want and has always done it perfectly. Verifies images, mounts images, boots from the CD when necessary. So I won't be trying any others.

Thanks for your interest though.

Dmitry,

Thank you for the ISO file, which I now have on disc.
Four weeks ago my PC showed signs of failing due to bad sectors on the disc containing the O/S, Programs etc
so I replaced this Hard Drive with a new unit & successfully restored my PC using the previously inoperable 'Acronis bootable rescue CD', so things worked in the end!
