TI 2009 Rescue Media CD - No restore with Fujitsu laptop
Hello!
I've a strange problem:
I own a Fujistu-Siemens Amilo Xa 2528 Notebook with nForce430 / Go6100 chipset, AMD Turion X2 CPU with two SATA-Hard Drives installed and I do my backups (.tib) via Windows.
But today I wanted to restore my disc with the Bootable Rescue Media CD and it does not work properly.
I'm talking about True Image Home 2009 build 9769 Bootable Rescue Media.
I'm able to boot from the TrueImage CD and I even could do backups with the CD. But if I want to restore and click the "Browse" or "Browse for backup..." button the whole system hangs immediately and completely. The same happens if you click the "My Data" button for creating a backup. (The "My Computer" backup button however works)
I'm not able to do after anything more or else. I only can move the mouse pointer. Finally I have to turn off my laptop.
I even tried starting with the linux parameters acpi=off noapic, etc. and also disabled USB-Legacy support in BIOS but problem still exists. I don't have RAID.
Remember: Backup would work with the Rescue Media CD any you can navigate through the menu, but if you want to restore a tib-file and therefore open the path to search for backups the program hangs suddently. Game over.
I'm out of ideas. There are no media rescue disc versions which work properly. Maybe you've got an advice. My concern is that in case of a real hard disk crash I would not be able to restore my files to my laptop actually...
Best regards,
Pat

Hello!
K0LO wrote:How long did you wait? Usually a long pause like that indicates that the program is trying to access something on the network, and this may take a minute or two before it times out.
I waited until 10 minutes, nothing happens anymore.
I click on the "search for backup" button, the button will be highlighted blue and that's all. The screen freezes. You only can move the mouse pointer. Nothing else.
The same thing happens when I only want to backup "My Data" only. Ive no external mouse, printer or USB drive installed.

Then something is wrong. Have you tried the latest version of the Bootable Media? You can download an ISO image from your account on the Acronis web site. Go to your "Registered Products" page and look under TI Home 2009 for a bootable ISO image. The version posted is newer than the one you would create yourself from Bootable Media Builder in the TI Home product.
If you've already tried this then you should contact Acronis Support via Live Chat on their web site.

Can you tell me how to contact the support team?
My difficulty in getting help is that I'm only a registered User of TrueImage V9. As I have a new laptop my friend borrowed me his TI2009 Bootable Rescue Media (latest build) for testing purposes because my bootable V9 didn't also work.
(I hope it's not illegal but if True Image 2009 obviously doesn't work with my PC I actually see no sense to buy the latest product. You understand?)

Pat:
Go to www.Acronis.com and then to TI Home 2009 product page. Click Support and look for this item:
Follow the wizard until you get a choice for Live Chat. Try that method.
You could also ask your friend to go to their account page and download the latest ISO of the bootable recovery environment to try with your PC.

Hello all,
Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.
PatJay, so you are using trial version of Acronis True Image Home 2009, am I right? If not, please register your serial number to your account so I can check.
Otherwise, I can give you ISO with trial version of the product, it should help.
We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.
Thank you.

Hello all,
Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.
Peter, I'm really sorry, but we don't have a German support forum yet, so I've used an online translator to read your message.
As I understand you were not able to use neither standard bootable media generated by True Image, nor the latest ISO image downloaded from your account? If so, please note that we've updated ISO images recently and added the most modern hardware support and the latest Linux kernel. Please download the new ISO image form your account the following way and check if it works for you:
- Log in to your account (if you do not have one, you will need to create it);
- Once logged in, click My Products & Downloads:
- Scroll down to the registered product and click Bootable Media:
- Click Download:
-
Acronis Bootable Media will be downloaded as an ISO file. See Burning an ISO Image.
