TI 2010 with windows 7

Thread needs solution

Purchased TI 2010 from Amazon, and just installed on Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

I tried a couple of backups, and then restores from TIBs created by TI10. Also TIBS created from downloaded trial TI2010.

My verdict is that TI2010 is extremely unreliable when restoring which is when you need it to work properly.
The errors include ...
1) Running within Win7 - after the re-boot, sometimes can't find the USB drive where the backup is found.
2) Running within Windows 7 - after re-boot, sometimes can't find the the first volume (?) of the tib.
3) Running from boot disk - can't find the USB HDD.

Out if seven attempted restores it worked for two.

My copy of TI10 worked without any problems when used from boot disk to restore and backup XP, Vist, and Win7.

Sending back to Amazon as "not fit for purpose".

Hello Rannoch,

I will do my best to solve the issue you have with Acronis True Image Home 2010.

Regarding the first issue first of all please make sure that you are using the latest build of the program. Check it in Help -> About. The latest available build is 6029. You can always download the latest build of the program from your account under Registered Products.

Regarding the second issue. If you receive one of the following error messages:

Then the possible source of the issue is FAT32 file system on external drive which limits file size to 4 GB. When backing up to FAT32 media, Acronis True Image automatically splits the backup archive to 4 GB volumes.

Acronis True Image treats flash drives as removable media.

Solution

When the Insert next volume messages pop up, click OK to let Acronis True Image continue the backup process.

You can also format your flash drive to NTFS to overcome the issue.

When backing up to a FAT32 internal hard disk drive, Acronis True Image will automatically split the backup archive to 4 GB volumes without any messages.

If Windows Disk Management detects your external FAT32 hard disk drive as removable, then there will pop up the Insert next volume messages.

To invoke Windows Disk Management click Start -> Run and type diskmgmt.msc.

In order to resolve the issue under Linux please download ISO image based on ISOLinux from your account under Registered Products and create Acronis bootable disc using third-party software. ISOLINUX Bootable Media is usually more up to date than the Acronis Loader one. This is due to the fact a new version of Acronis Bootable Media is uploaded to the website more frequently than regular product updates are released.

ISOLINUX Bootable Media has several boot parameters that may help overcome possible issues with booting. You can also set a specific VGA resolution in the ISOLINUX media if there an issue with the Graphical User Interface (GUI). Check the following KB article for more details.
