TI Home 11 (8101)- "Write error (0x70004)" using external storage
I've recently began having backup failures. "Failed to write data to the archive file. A possible reason might be poor media quality." dialog box is displayed. I've read and followed instructions in the forums and KB and cannot fix the issue. Attached are system info and reports fyi. I love the product and have used it for years, but I'm stumped with this issue.
Can you help fix this ???

Hello all,
Thank you for using Acronis True Image
First of all I would recommend you check the disks for errors in the following way:
- Go to the Command Prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd)
- Enter the command: "chkdsk DISK: /r" (where DISK is the partition letter you need to check) for every partition that is visible in My Computer. Please note, that checking the C: drive may require you to reboot the machine.
1) Go to Computer -> Properties -> Advanced System Settings -> System Protection.
2) Uncheck all drives marked for automatic system restore.
3) Click Apply (warning: this deletes all restore points including shadow copies of files).
4) Re-check drives that you want restore points for.
5) Click Apply.
If the issue persists switch your external hard drive to "Optimize for performance" mode:
a. Right-click the My Computer icon and then click Manage.
b. Click the Device Manager icon.
c. Click the plus (+) sign next to Disk Drives.
d. Double-click the USB hard drive string.
e. Click the Policies button then click Optimize for performance and mark all checkboxes.

I too am having this problem and your posted solutions have not resolved it. I even purchased a new external drive thinking the other one may have been going bad.
I believe the problem may be related to current Microsoft Hot fixes pushed through Windows Updates. My scheduled backup started to not run, but would work when run manually. This started a couple of weeks ago.
Now based on your advice to remove restore points I have no way to return to a pre-update state.
What is the solution???

Geoff, did you get a resolution for this?
Thanks, Gary.
