TI Home 2010 Crashes when showing versions from Explorer context-menu

Thread needs solution

In the Windows Explorer context-menu, when clicking on "Versionen anzeigen" (Show versions) the Nonstop Backup window is opened and it crashes with some files and does not crash with other files. I have not yet found out why it crashes on some files and on other files it does not. The files where it does not crash have only one version, so maybe the crash occurs with files which have multiple versions?

Specs:

  • OS: Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit SP2

Hello Peter,

Thank you for using Acronis Products

The issue needs a closer investigation. I would recommend you open a new support case using this link http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/support/ and attach the following diagnostic information.

- Reproduce the problem (application crash);

- Do not close the "Application has stopped working" window;

- Run Task Manager (press Ctrl-Shift-Esc buttons);

- Go to "Processes" tab and right-click on the crashed process;

- Select "Create Dump File" item from the menu;

- Pick up the .DMP file created and send it to us;

- Open Start->Run (or press Windows-R buttons) type "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive" string without quotes and hit Enter key

- After that you will see a folder (or a few folders), the name of which starts with "Report"

- Please send us Report.wer file from the last created folder

Please note that you may add the two collected files into rar or zip archive file.

Could you please do the following?

- Open Start\Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Information;

- Choose the "Save" option in the "File" menu (or "Action" menu under Windows 2000), enter the "File name" and set the field "Save as type" to "System Information File (*.NFO)";

- Send us the saved file.

I've a similar problem, but in Windows XP.
I would like to purcase Acronis True Image 2010, but, testing updated trial version, I’ve found this heavy and grave problem: right-click, or canc, or copy on any folder or file (especially on the desktop) cause a system crash and the dialog box 1 and 2 appear in sequence (see attachments). In the Task Manager (see attachment 3) you can notice two processes “drwts32.exe”. If I close one of the two, everything come back regular but the impossibility of doing the above quoted operations remains. In “Show events -> Application”, two mistakes are shown (see reports under).
I tried your procedures "Creating Dr. Watson Crash Dumps" (http://forum.acronis.com/content/2192) and "Creating Windows Mini-Dumps" (http://forum.acronis.com/content/2191), but without any apparent risult.
If I deinstall True Image 2010 everything come back regular.
Can you help me? If I can’t solve this problem I will be sorry not to be able to purcase your very useful product.
Thak you
Emilio Casoli

PS: I’ve been able to make the backup images of my partitions without problem on an external disk.

Hello all,

Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

Emilio, I need some additional information from you to investigate the issue and provide you with a solution.

1. Could you please let me know what kind of backup did you use: Non-Stop, partition or files/folders?

2. Please collect AcronisInfo tool output as described at this KB article and attach it to your reply.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.
