TI2010 doesnt work. TI HD works.. on new SSD
I have a new Kingston SSD which came with True Image HD. (Special version for HD vendors). I used this to clone my HD to my new SSD. Fine!
Then I tried to use my TI 2010 boot disk, but it locks up at the main selection page.
So, I tried the version installed on my HD, and that gets to the point where you selection an image, but then it just hangs with the egg timer spinning. (I reinstalled TI2010 just to be sure!)
Finally, I tried the TI HD that came with my SSD and it works perfectly.
So...I reinstalled Windows 7, ensuring that I formatted my Root partition.
The same problems as above occured.
Clearly there is something in TI2010 that is causing a problem.
TI HD looks like a stipped down copy of an earlier version of TI--which is a MAJOR problem, because it will not let me restore one of my earlier images created with TI 2010!
This is a serious--AND COSTLY--problem!
PS TO THE ABOVE...I just tried the BOOT version of TI11 and it works perfectly! Indeed, it looks like it would even recover the image made with TI HD!
Unfortunately, Acronis support is now what it used to be so there is no way to contact them. Hmmm...I've been a Beta tester for TI for several years, and they still want me to pay to report a problem to them!
Thank you for your informative response, but let me rephrase what you are saying.
1. I have a problem with a current Acronis product, and you expect me to do the experimenting to find the solution! (Incidentally, as a Beta tester I occasionally received free copies, but I ALWAYS purchased my own as well!)
2. The previous version of your softwre does not have this problem!
3. The FREE OEM copy that came with the HD does not have this problem.
4. Paragons Backup Suite does not have this problem.
5. AND NOTE THIS---PARAGON'S FREE BACKUP SOFTWARE DOES NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM.
This is clearly an Acronic failure -- and you ask me to help you find the solution? Remember, we are discussing a paid-for programme, not a Beta copy which you supplied.
Sorry to say this--but after years, and many versions of TI and DD--I have decided to shell out $49 and purchase the Paragon Suite!
I think the clue Terence if I understand you correctly, is that it would appear that the HD version of TI's Linux is based on an earlier version - probably why your TI11 CD works but your later one (2010) doesn't.
Of course that sounds weird that an earlier Linux version had drivers that work and the newer one doesn't - though that has happened before - not sure why updating the drivers for new drivers (unless they leave them out for reasons of space) should break the old ones.
If the ISO version works and it could be argued that as Acronis are providing it, you've paid for it even if you never download it.
Having said that, I would have thought the programmer responsible for the rescue CD might have some idea what driver the HD had versus 2010, unless the HD version has actually been compiled by Kingston, which is possible as Acronis used to (and maybe still do) provide special SDK versions to hardware/software providers to allow them to rebadge and add their own bits and pieces - I know Seagate do this for one of their drive utilities.
