TI2011 - backup file name problem

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I'm trying to use this filename as a backup filename: "System(@date@).tib".
TI accepts this and after running the backup I get this filename: System_2010-09-03. Obviously it drops the '(' ')' out of my filename and creates a new one.

Any hints on how to get those wanted filenames?

cu,
Michael

I also have a file name problem. No matter what I name it the file is written as ").tib" (no quotes) Looking for a solution.

Robert,
Choose Edit backup settings, click on the destination, a list of proposed destinations will show up. If it is long, make sure you slide down to the bottom of it. You will see "browse". Select "browse", use the *left* navigation panel to navigate with double clicks until you double click on your preferred destination and enter the file name of your backup in the box right underneath.
That will set the name you want.
If it doesn't, copy the TIB files you want to keep to another directory using windows explorer. Then, delete your backup (not remove) and recreate your task following the above.

This is a UI issue. I have experienced the case where the default file name is this end bracket several times, and this is how I fixed it.

I appreciate vour response. I fully understand your solution. I finally discovered that the file name had to be entered when setting up the "job". I had to do as you suggested and create new backups and deleted the old ones.

Thank You
(The progress bar and time remaing totally suck) Also on the home screen when the backup entry is expanded the "Disk Backup" button is partially obscured. This is probably related to screen resolution and my setting for tex size. The only reason I haven't bagged this software is the Try and Decide feature.

Well... Watch out for the Try&decide feature.

Make sure that you disable the Acronis Recovery Manager before you turn on T&D.

Also make sure you always have a full disk (all partitions) image you feel comfortable going back to if T&D fails on you. I have been there. While you are at it, make sure you can use your recovery CD to get to your backup and your disks.

The UI issues you mention are annoyances, whereas T&D, Non-stop backup, cloning have been iffy or tricky. Luckily, the core features of creating disk images and restoring them has been bulletproof for me so far.
