tib damaged

Thread needs solution

Hi I have a file backup. tib from which I must take the data, because when I do the restore tells me that the archive is damaged. I can repair this file or I can open this archive to retrieve the data? how can I fix this?

You can try using windows explorer and copy out files -- this might work depending on the damage/corruption of the tib. Not much else you can do. Ati creates checsums every few thousand bytes when it makes a back up and embeds these inthe backup. When it reads a tib it will test to see if it comes up with the same checksums, if not, if one byte is off, the tib will be declared invalid and ati partition recovery won't work with it.

You can sometimes still do selective file recovery from a file backup that is corrupted but you're usually better off jsut using Explorer and the copy command.

Giancarlo, also make sure that you are using the same version, and if possibly the same build, of ATI that produces the TIB file originally. If it fails even in this case, Scott's advice stands. If it works, that might be some compatibility issue showing as damage.

thanks for the answer, but very sincerely do not understand what you mean. I have the tib file and I can not do recovery. This file can be opened to retrieve data, or is there a utility that fixes this file? I confirm that is the same version

There is no fixing a tib file that ati sees as invalid. Some "invlid" fiels can be opened with explorer and you can copy out files manually.
I beleive Pat is suggesting trying to recover using the same version of ati with which the tibs were created.

Yes, I was suggesting that if, by any chance, you were trying to recover from a TIB file that was produced with ATI version/build X that is different from the version/ATI Y that you are using now, your archive might be showing as "corrupted".
Sometimes users install a trial version, produce some backups, uninstall and go back to an older version and don't realize the backups are not valid any longer.

If you are using the same version that produced the TIB file, if you cannot double click on the file to open, if you cannot mount it either, and you cannot recover from it from ATI in Windows or from the CD, there is nothing you can do.

oh tanks misters for your reply and help me. i attach the error with the photo, and you view for link to me the solution..... help me.

giancarlo,

Remember that you cannot mount a file backup. You can mount only a disk and partition backup. So hopefully you are trying to mount a disk and partition backup.
