TIH 2010: Build 7046 still need SnapAPI update??

Thread needs solution

I have been using build TrueImage 2010 Bld 5055 since it was first introduced, after my windows 7 64bit upgrade. It has worked very well after learning most of its "nuts and bolts", and using it in conjunction with windows task scheduler. I didn't install later builds due to reading all the various troubles discussed here with Blds 6029 and 6053.

I know that most of those troubles were eventually resolved with a SnapAPI update that had to be downloaded and applied separately. I recently thought I might now install Bld 7046. However, I have not been able to clearly understand if 7046 still requires a SnapAPI download applied, or if all that is now resolved internally.

Does the 7046 update require anything more than simply installing the 7046 download over my 5055 installation??

Thanks for any advise..... Bob Vaughan

In theory you should be able to just install b7046. If your system is working OK now, then you shouldn't require a different SnapAPI download.

However, please note the term 'should not'.

I would suggest making a full image of your drive before installing any new or upgraded software.

Make sure if you do decide to download 7046, that you make a new rescue CD and test it as it might have altered between builds.

Thanks for the reply, Colin. That is good to hear. And, as you suggested, I always do a full disk image when making a change like this.

One additional question: Does anyone know if the Users Guide is updated with b7046? I have a downloaded pdf of TI2010 users guide, but it was done when b5055 was current. It is a big download, and I don't print it, but I do like to have the pdf for reference if needed (kept on a thumb drive)!

Thanks again ... Bob

The manual is the same.

This is for Colin B:
Dear Sir, I am having an awful problem with the reinstallation of Acronis Home 2012 (I currently own 3 licenses) and unfortunately my windows 7 x64 had gotten corrupted which I diligently repair with the aid of Microsoft and others. The issue is that even though I deleted the recommended registry entries and updated the SnapAPI as well as made sure to install the latest update to my version (all my backups need 2012) version 7133 I always get:

The older version of the Acronis product component has been detected. The computer must be rebooted for correct operation of Acronis True Image Home. Do you want to reboot the computer now? [After successful installation]

Please help if you can and email me to insure I view your comments or suggestions and thanks for helping.

Enrique,

Have you run the Acronis registry cleaner? I would try this first before attempting anything else.

Download the Cleaner from here and read the instructions carefully before running it.

When the Cleaner has finished, try reinstalling 2012 again.
