TIH 2010 NonStop Backup annoyment

Thread needs solution

I have TIH 2010 latest version running. (Version has nothing to do with it, behaviour i will describe has always been there).

When I startup or 're-start' my computer (Windows 7 64bit 6 GB ram) Acronis NonStop Backup ALWAYS starts a backup.

First it says "preparing backup" for 10-15 minutes (and this slows down my computer), then it starts a backup EVERY TIME and that slows down the computer too much.

If it is 'non stop' why does it want to start a new backup at every startup?

I bought TIH 2010 for this "feature" but I'm not happy with it at this moment in time.

There is no way to configure anything (but source and location) for this NonStop Backup so I guess there is no way to disable the "make backup every time the computer starts" ?

Any hints and tips are welcome (including tips for other applications to make mountable image-backups and to do continuous background backup without slowing things down to un-workable "speed").

Thanks!

Actually the build would be helpful, but if you've experienced it with all builds then we probably need to look at your system.

I'm not sure anything can be done about the slowness of the PC, mine (2GB RAM) also goes into 'hyper' mode and slows down during the intitial archive building - about 59 -68% CPU usage.

It should only create a new 'slice' every time you boot up - each slice has a 1GB limit. Are you saying that TI creates a complete new backup or is just creating it's initial slice?

You can check that by looking in the (hidden) timeline folder on whatever drive you are imaging to.

Build 6.053

The backup at startup is not a 'complete' one.
But not limited to 1 Gb IMHO. I think it makes about 4 x 1 Gb at startup looking at the files and creation time.

But it takes too much preparation and time and slows down the PC annoyingly.

PC is 2.6 GHz quad Windows 7 64bit 6 Gb ram.

My own feeling or intuition was that NonStop when the drive to backup to failed to mount (it was off line and not powered up, I wanted to LEAVE it as is off line and didn't change settings) it would keep trying every 2 seconds to restart, fail with I/O error and others... and cancelling was useless.

Disabled the services and tasks Windows 7 loads at startup let me out.

Now I wish all the tasks were more "informative" and would show target drive letter, have asn "on/off' button, or would just sleep when the volume isn't present. The task names were not helpful enough and I didn't want to change them; duplicate; or make changes.

Hello all,

Please accept our profound apologies for the inconvenience for the delay and for the inconvenience you've experienced.

Let me help you with the issue.

If you want to turn Nonstop backup off (i.e. make it to not run at the startup) I may suggest you to clean all scheduled tasks the following way:

1. Download either the EXE file or ZIP archive;

2. Start the Command Prompt from Start -> Programs -> Accessories menu;

3. Run the following commands in the folder you saved the file to:

schedmgr task zap

schedmgr service stop

schedmgr service uninstall

schedmgr service install

schedmgr service start

4. This should delete all Acronis scheduled tasks on the PC.

After that the issue should be fixed.

Please reply to this thread if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.
