timountermonitor

Thread needs solution

Hi, my windows 7 pc has slowly developed the old xp problem of getting slower and slower to boot. Looking around, in msconfig I find 2 instances of c:\program files\acronis\trueimage home\timounter.exe running at startup. Is this right and if not can I simply get rid of 1 of them?

Also im considering removing ati 2012 and just using it from the boot disc. If this is ok is there i cleanup prog anywhere to remove ALL of ati, without causing the BSOD. Lots of horror stories on this forum.

Thirdly can I remove the references to ati in msconfig startup........ timounter, trueimage, and scheduler

Thank you

Your system boot time getting slower is caused by additional products being installed and starting up in the background. Although Acronis True Image Home 2012 does load some items at startup, the additional time to boot should not be that different than when you do not have it installed.

You should have several references to Acronis True Image Home in msconfig / Startup. There usually are three, schedhlp.exe, TrueImageMonitor.exe, and TimounterMonitor.exe. You should not delete any of these if you want to continue using Acronis True Image Home installed on your system.

If you are going to remove Acronis True Image Home, you should use the Remove a Program option in control panel to un-install. After that you can download and use the Acronis True Image Home 2012 Cleanup Utility to be sure all traces have been removed from your system. You can download it from here: http://kb.acronis.com/content/24545. Be sure to follow the directions carefully when using this tool.

You can continue to use the boot disk for backup and restore after removing the software from your system if you wish.

For backup purposes, you only need schedhlp.exe. Without this one, you cannot run ATI interactively.
You can deactivate trueimagemonitor. When you do this, you lose the ability to launch ATI from the system tray icon, and you lose the notifications (not a big deal).

Thanks Pat for the additional information.
