True Archive of hard drive including deleted files
Is there a way to archive everything on my hard drive including files that I may delete periodically? In other words once a file has been backed up, it should remain in the backup even if I remove it from my hard drive. For example if I have fileA on my drive one week and I get rid of it the following week. I'd like Acronis to keep a copy of fileA in its backup (or differential backups) till such time as I manually access it in the backup tlib file and delete it from there. Is this possible?

Thanks for the suggestion. That partly solves the problem. Unless I am mistaken, If I add a new fileB and it gets picked up by a differential backup, and the following week I delete fileB from my drive, I take it fileB will still be available in the previous week's differential? Then what happens when auto consolidation wipes out a differential that contained fileB, is it gone for good? I wish there was an archive differential (not sure if that is the right term) where every NEW file is archived and preserved forever - until I say remove it from my backup. Any ideas?

Yes, when you consolidate you end up only with the data as of the last backup that was consolidated.

I'm afraid it's impossible. Backups (full or differentials with their base fulls) are exact snapshot of files at some point in time. When consolidated, a differential may become full, but their contents remain he same, it's impossible to deleted files 'pile up' somewhere. If a file was deleted month ago and the oldest backup is younger - the file is not there.
